Discomfort on very back, right-side of tongue.

Hello,
For the past few months I've had a problem on the very back, right-side of my tongue.  I feel like there is something 'extra' back there (swollen parts?) and it is uncomfortable.  I've seen 2 general doctors and an ENT about it, but they are quick to dismiss it and have given me no real answers.  The area in question is on the very back of tongue just as it starts to go down into the throat and is located on the very side of the tongue.  If I stick out my tongue all the way and to the left, I can see what looks like foliate papillae (sp) that are enlarged and red.  The opposite side of my tongue (where there is no pain) does not look the same, in that there is no swelling or redness.  My ENT put me on nexium because he did see some white-ish covering along my throat and said it was LPR and they it may help my tongue pain.  It has been 2 months since then and my tongue is stil bothering me.   I don't why the Doctors haven't shown the concern nor given the time to actually LOOK at what I'm describing to them.  Any suggestions?   I had my tonsils out a year and a half ago.. palatine tonsils I assume.  I'm 36 now, and wondering if it could be a problem with the lingual tonsils?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
