For the past four days I have experienced muffled hearing that is continuously getting worse and worse. I have had the feeling that it was an ear infection but my mom thinks that it is a problem that will eventually pass. I have tried to stay calm and not think too much about it. My mom got me a wax removing kit to no avail, no way came out. My ear has begun to swell while the pain steadily rises. I'm asking because I need to know if waiting another day would be life threatening, can an ear infection kill you in five days?
It could be an infection or it could be a drainage causing your tubes to close off causing muffled sounds. If it's been 5 days with no improvement , or you are having pains or a fever a doctor visit couldn't hurt. You can try taking allergy medicines and popping your ear to see if you can get it to drain.
Usually though an ear infection doesn't kill a person in 5 days. It just gets worse and makes you sick. It does me anyway. You can try putting some olive oil in your ear or boiling it out with peroxide.
