Does a sinus infection easily spread to other sinus cavities?

I was told that usually when you get a sinus infection or have chronic sinusitis, it doesn't take long for the rest of the areas to become infected.  My CT scan showed infection of the maxillary sinuses and I'm wondering if it's more than likely it has spread to the other's.  I have ear pain, stiff neck, sore throat, pain in my nose, behind and above my eyes, my cheek bones, teeth, very bad headaches and pain in between my eyes.  I am very tired when I wake up and often feel better when laying down.

Thanks!
