Does heavy drinking improve your sense of smell the next day?

When I get drunk going out with friends I notice my sense of smell is slightly better the next day. This doesn't happen when I have only one drink with dinner but when I am rightly drunk. This usually means drinking ten or more drinks over the course of 4-7 hours. The next day I can smell slightly better. Could this be caused by dehydration and the cells in the nose shrinking?
