MY RIGHT EAR IS HURTING AND I CAN BARELY SWALLOW.

I have the same thing now, after 5 weeks of sinus infection, antibiotics, etc. I can hardly hear out of left ear & right front neck & ear hurt after I swallow. It's miserable & scary... Hurts to eat food or drink anything, It's not a sore throat, but more in the back of my throat (neck front area) I also have thyroid issues & take Synthroid, but this did come on very suddenly, over the last day or 2.

Hello, It hurts to swallow in the front of my throat. My throat also hurts when I sneeze or cough. I threw up yesterday and whenever I stand up I feel really light headed. My ear also hurts when I touch it. I find myself not able to hear very well out of that one ear. This has been going on for 3 days. I cant sleep very well at night because of this. What should I do?

Go to a GOOD CHIROPRACTOR!!! Most if not all your symptoms are from bacteria built up in your ear canal area..there is a bone in your upper neck/back area that if out of alignment, causes the build up of bacteria/infection. After your first 1-3 adjustments, the pain will be gone.

The same thing happened to me  few years back, the doctor just gave me antibiotics, which worked for like 5 days, then it came back --the pain-- on both sides, could not swallow or eat. (at times) After the chiro visit, pain was down 50% first visit, 75% or so the second, and all gone after the 3rd.

I have had pain in my left ear and left side of my throat for five days now. A nurse and doctor both looked in my ear and throat and said they look good. Something must be going on because it hurts to eat or even drink anything. In fact it hurts all the time but intensifies even more with eating and drinking. After eating or drinking, my ear and throat feel like they are being stabbed and burning. Please help!!

Sounds like my bout with the flu. Local health clinic should be able to diagnose, for cheaper than your GP. Painkillers for the ache - Ibuprofen worked for me, but you may need something stronger. Get lots of fluids; eat foods with garlic or citrus to boost immune response (it's a good idea to continue this even after you think symptoms are gone - it can't hurt!). If the pain and congestion continue past 14 days (2 weeks is about the normal run time for flu symptoms, I'm told), see a doctor immediately!

A recipe that may immediately ease congestion is hot tomato tea. Sounds gross but tastes great. Use V8 or canned tomato juice (no chunks), add as much garlic and hot sauce as you can stand - the hotter it is, the faster and better it will work, but you want to be able to drink it all. Splash in lemon juice for a little more flavor and for the vitamin C. Heat it to the hottest you can get it, and inhale the vapors as you sip. Repeat as necessary, a few times a day. It works to clear out my sinuses every time. Supposedly it tastes like a bloody mary if you add celery salt, but I can't confirm that!

my throat and ears have been hurting in the last 6 days. very congested and coughing. Body aches some. I am running a low fever .Do I have the flu? What should I do?

I had same thing happen last winter. I was sick as a dog with sinuses blocked, pressure, coughing until vomiting, behind the ear pain and inner ear pain, headache and sore throat. I was sick for at least 2 1/2 to 3 months. I kept going to the clinic since I don't have insurance and complaining. They would look in my ear and not see anything and not do anything. They would say everythings fine. I also couldn't swallow without pain and like I said I would cough and then vomit. They never even looked into that. Then my ears became blocked, I couldn't hear. Finally in the summer the doctor I saw whispered in my right ears some numbers that I repeated back correctly, when she did it in left ear I could not make out what she said, so she ordered a ct scan of my sinuses and I had mastoiditis an infection in the bone behind your ear. It most likely came from not being treated for the ear infection I probably had. Now they did give me a 2 week course of antibiotics once and it didn't work. I have significant hearing loss in my left ear and I'm still in pain at times, its worse on some days then others. I'm saying if it continues and nothing is working ask for a ct scan or something so that you can catch something before it turns into something more difficult to treat and potentially life threatening like mastoiditis. I read up on it and if not treated properly it can spread to your scull, to your brain and cause meningitis or the infection can go throughout your entire body. Please don't ignore this and ask for tests so that you can get a proper diagnosis. I tried tea with honey and lemon and heating pads and just waited for several weeks before I complained.

I went to the doctor because of the same problem. It hurt to swallow...like knives stabbing the back of my throat. And the left side of my throat was noticably double the size of the right.The pain moved into my jaw and ear. They gave me a shot in my butt actually of antibiotics and I am taking Clindamycin 3 times a day and A LOT of advil for the pain. It is slowly decreasing.

I have had pain at the back of my neck everytime that i swallow.  I am a dentist.  One of my front desk receptionist has the same problem> The symptoms started on yesterday evening.  She has been complaining about her jaw getting tired when she eats for the past couple of days.  What the heck is this anyway!!?? IT HURTS!!

i have also got a pain on the right side of my neck and it also hurts when i swallow :( i havent had any throat infections so i dont know what could have caused this!!!
has anyone found anything that helps with it?????

Try warm honey with lemon, just continually sipping it.  If the pain is so bad you need to go to the ER, they will prescribe a lidocaine type gel, which doesn't work that great. So don't go there, unless you can't breathe or are bleeding or have a high fever. Also, use a saline gargle (warm salt water) every 4-6 hours.  I've had the worst sore throats (agony) so I know what I'm talking about. At any rate, go to your doctor for your ear/throat pain if it persists. Good luck.

I am having severe pain deep inside my right ear/right side of my throat for the past 2 days. Only on one side. I am scared to swallow my saliva also.
Pleasemhelp. Ihad viral thorat infection 2 weeks ago but recovered completely. It was the worst infection I have ever had.
