Eagle's syndrome - looking for people with experience

After years of searching and a lot of debilitating pain, recently I've been diagnosed with Eagle's syndrome and will be having surgery in the weeks to come.

I am interested in experience by people who had this surgery (either through the mouth, or the throat). What were your symptoms? How did the surgery go? How long did it take to recover from the surgery? And most importantly, did the surgery relieve you of your pains?
