Ear Problems

A couple of months ago I had gotten a cold which gave me a cough that lasted until recently. While the coughs have stopped, soon after I started experiencing problems in my right ear. It is often itchy and feels as though it is filled with water. I have tried using basic over the counter products such as swimmers ear to dry them out, but when i use q-tips to clean or itch my ear, it feels extremely dry. I have often had problems with swimmer's ear and ear infections in the past. Also, in this very same ear for my entire life up until I began experiencing these problems, I used to have extreme wax build up that often had to be cleaned out. Once these problems started to emerge, my ear barely seems to produce wax. Also, if this matters, I am not experiencing any hearing issues.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

There are tubes called 'Eustachian  tubes' which connect the middle ear to the throat, this balances the air pressure in the ears. This tube can get  blocked due to infections of the throat, which can give lead to a feeling of fullness in the ears. This can also result in infection of the ears. The blocked ears can be opened up by the valsalva maneuver, where air is blown into the cheeks against a closed nostrils, this sometimes helps to open up the tubes. Steam inhalations can help clear the tube. Please consult your family physician.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
