Hello and hope you are doing well.
Understand your predicament. If there is Eustachian tube dysfunction, it does not resolve with medical therapy, then surgical options are the choice of treatment. Myringotomy, where a tiny slit is made in the eardrum to aspirate any middle ear fluid and to allow temporary ventilation into the middle ear space. Pressure Equalization Tube, PET, where a tiny plastic or metal tube, is introduced into myringotomy to keep the portal open.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Hello and thank you for your reply.
This has been an ongoing battle for 9 months so far.
Actually went to GP today and she saw infection in ear this time.
Sinus still won't clear no matter what I try. Got another rocephin injection and another 7 days of amox. Also had blood draw but waiting on results.
I believe this all started from Eustachian tube dysfunction and I discovered using neti-Pot worsened it by default. So your comment seconds that. Still not quite understanding how an ear infection could seem to lead to so much other issues, such as chest pain, fast heart rate, muscle ache & pain. But I suppose any infection not resolved in this time could be a factor. My ears have seemed to calm a tad down ringing wise today but this does occur from time to time only to return. Also I forgot to mention on first post that along with Rocephin those first times I was also given a steroid injection same time, since today the effect of just a rocephin injection didn't seem to work as well, I now wonder how much of a role the steroids play. I will re-post any changes and results from labs soon. Again thank you for your time and reply.
Hello and hope you are doing well.
It could be that the infecting organisms are susceptible to Rocephin, hence the improvement in symptoms. For chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks. A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids. Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective, but worsen Eustachian tube dysfunction (water in the ears or feeling of fullness in the ears). The best diagnosis for this problem is a CT of the sinuses. Surgery is recommended to patients that fail maximal medical treatment.
