Ear irrigation caused dizziness and vertigo

Ear irrigation caused dizziness and vertigo

I went to healthcare clinic a week ago and they flushed my ears with cold water to remove wax buildup. They used too much pressure and it was very uncomfortable and I had severe vertigo and nausea when they were done. I am still suffering from light headedness and dizziness and have headaches and nausea. I went to see an ENT professional a few days ago and he told me there was some inflammation and that it would subside but so far I have this sick feeling that seems worse in the mornings.
I would like to know if anyone has had the same kind of experience as a result of ear irrigation and whether it went away over time.
Thanks.

Common occurance, resolved over time and caused by physics.

Here is the deal, the semi circular canals are full of liquid, when the temperature liquid within the SCC the presure changes. Just as when water is hot, pressure rises, cold pressure decreases.

When this happens within the SCC the SCC stimulates the brain giving false information. This in turns makes you feel dizzy.

If you want to learn more, google ICE CALORIC.  Granted what happened to you is not exactly the same but the essentials are.

I am having the EXACT same problem:

I am still suffering from light headedness and dizziness and have headaches and nausea.

I have not gone to an ENT yet.  It's been roughly 5 days.  But I still feel dizzy.  The cold is gone, but my ear feels terrible.  Please help.

The reason you all felt this way is because they used cold water. They were suppose to use warm water so that they don't disturb your equilibrium. Sorry guys your nurse/technician didn't know what they were doing.
