Ear problem: Hot, clogged feeling, mostly deaf but no pain or discharge?

I have a ear problem that started 2 days ago when I attempted to clean off wax with warm, saline water and q-tips. Ever since that day my left ear has been feeling hot, clogged and I practically can't ear anything with it (I'd say about 80% hearing loss). I feel no pain nor do am I aware of any discharges. I've also attempted to use hot cotton swabs/towels, valsalva maneuver (my ear gives a weak pop but then "reverts"), yawning, chewing on something, massaging, etc... nothing worked.

My wax is mostly soft and gets paste-y when I add water but right now I don't have much. I will go to my doctor if it doesn't go away soon but right now I just want to know if there's anything I can do about it... and what exactly is the problem here. Any help would be appreciated.
