The septum might not be able to be straightened to full extent, rather the doctor tries to chip away the septum till it allows for increased flow of air from both sides. I myself underwent septoplasty and for over a month, my nose would occasionally bleed, along with a throbbing pain in my septum but gradually the pain has subsided. The area around my septum is still swollen but it takes about a year for the whole swelling to subside.
Bleeding after a year is not normal. I'm not sure if it has something to do with pregnancy or rather lack of healing. Best advice is to go to a doctor and get it checked.
Don't you worry about that! Many women do have sinus congestion during pregnancy (associated with the different hormonal soup in your blood), but given your history, this cannot be assumed. That's not to say they will for sure be able to treat you given your pregnancy, but sometimes at least simple bleeding can be treated.
Thank you for your quick response! I did forget to mention, that I am 18 weeks pregnant. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I don't want to go to the doctor and look silly since sinus are supposed to act differently during pregnancy.
Thank you!
No, this should not be considered normal. You really need to see your surgeon again (or another one, if you prefer) and have this looked at. It's likely nothing major and can be treated in the office, but you should get it checked out regardless.
