Endoscopic sinus and septoplasty surgery :o(

What a shock I had on Tuesday Toddled into hospital expecting another nasal spray only to find out I have congenital deformation of the septum and chronic sinusitis! Have surgery booked for 22nd November, my consultant advised I would be having a general and staying in over night for the surgery! The bones seperating my brain from my sinus is very thin so that part can only be half cleared as he doesn't want brain fluid leakage....so he's told me I will always suffer but not to the extent that it is now!
I've had a few knee surgeries and my tonsils removed after many strep infections....however the thought of this scares me! What can I expect? Googling is one thing but experiences from you guys would really help!

Guys - Is it going to really hurt!!! I'm sat on the sofa with a slanket and a hot bag on my face......is it worse than sinusitis pain?

I need the same surgery, but am too scared.  How are you doing and would you recommend it?  Doc said after surgery sinuses would have to be packed for 3 weeks.  Did that happen and how bad was it.  Hope you are doing well.
