Exposure to moderate sound and temporary hearing reduction - permanent damage?

I like driving with the window down, and I like target shooting. After driving with the window down my hearing is worse for a short period of time afterwards.

When I shoot I wear good plugs and good muffs on top, but I still realize that exposure is cumulative.

So there are really 2 questions;

#1)Is the hearing loss I suffer from driving harmful, or a beneficial natural reaction?

#2)If it's not harmful, could I use it as a third level of hearing protection when shooting? IE drive to the range with window down, then put in plugs and muffs.

the reason you have noticable changes in hearing is that you get the popping effect when you drive with windows up or down, my point is there is a measurable change in air pressure, like when in an airplane, chew gum see if it helps, and i do agree when your out target shooting, wear earplugs,and earmuffs, probably ear plugs are sufficient but when shooting with a high caliber weapon decibels do increase. take care of your hearing.
