Extremely Itchy Eears for years!

I have had EXTREMELY itchy ears for over 5 years now. I used to go get my ears cleaned out by a professional and there would always be extreme orange like buildup that would sometimes cause me to lose my hearing. I don't get them cleaned professionally anymore, and have at times used to OTC ear cleaners. At times they itch so deep it feels like it's in my throat. I'll stick anything I can in there to scratch, and it of course feels SO good, but I know how bad it is to stick objects in there, what will help!

I am going mad with my ear, it is wet & itchy in the morning it started after I had flu' followed by a severe chest infection. My Doctor gave me anti- biotic ear drops but that didn't help; I was then prescribed Betnovate cream (which I used previously for Psoriasis). Nothing worked & I am so depressed, I have tried cleaning my ear with a Q tip very gently & have removed dry skin (gently) but it builds up again overnight. I saw someone suggest Mario Badescu cream from Amazon, there are several different types of this cream which one do I buy. Please help

About three months ago I started getting itchy ears. Went to my GP and he prescribed Gentisone eardrops. This didn’t work and my condition started getting worse. I went to another GP who prescribed more eardrops and antibiotics (cannot remember type) At 50Euro a visit and things getting really bad I did some website searching and arrived here.
Firstly my condition.
• Really itchy ears which of course I scratched like mad!
• Flakiness and hard scabs forming inside the ear and on ear lobe.
• Clear fluid coming from the ear (which I think was a result of the scratching)
• Tinnitus
• Ears slightly swollen
The relief after scratching was brilliant but of course it started the whole cycle off again. Though I really hurt one of  my eardrum with a q-tip
Well,  drastic situations call for drastic action so I went to the drug store and bought a bottle of Iodine, (Hey, you’d try anything!) some aqueous cream (probably like sudocream) and some tea tree oil.
For the first night I put iodine on to my ear. (not even sure if one is supposed to do this but just letting you know what I did)  This really stung but I put up with it for as long as I could and then daubed my ears with the aqueous cream. I actually got a nights sleep!
In the morning I cleaned out my ears, (using more cream and a cotton bud)  taking care not to remove any tissue that wasn’t ready to be removed.
During the day I put tea tree oil on my ears. The aqueous  cream was also used at every opportunity (to keep the ears moist and help stop itching) Slowly but surely the itching subsided and the flaky tissue started falling off. Right now the skin on my ears is soft again. I’m only at this for 4 days but the improvements are so good I had to share it. The reason I am writing here is because I know the terrible pain that one goes through.
Under no circumstances should you scratch your ears for relief. Use the cream. Really splash it on.
When cleaning out the gunk from your ears do it very gently. No scratching.! And don’t remove anything by force, the skin will fall off eventually.  I’m not 100% yet but I will continue with the tea tree oil and cream for another while.

I have the same problem, my ears were swelled up in the outer canel of the ear, with the sticky liquid runninjg out all the time. My ear doctor gave me nasal spray and it helped for a while then came back. I  again had the itching and along with it I got very sore bumps in my ear left and right. Also had itching in the back of my throat. I went to the Dr. again, he gave me ear drops. The itching is gone but there is a new bump that only hurts when it is touched. But it almost covers my ear canel. I also had the flaking dried ear liquid its not skin but sticks like crazy glue. I am going back to the doctor 11/02/209 so if I find out what this is I will let you know.

Oh how i feel the pain of all of you, I too will use anything, keys, kirby grips, pens, tooth picks, to relieve the itch, its worst at night, it wakes me from my sleep, and i get the clear fluid slooshing around and my ear closes up, and next morning i have about a thousand layers of skin flaking out of my ear, its so unsightly, and it really annoys the rest of my family when then see me manically digging in my ear.

You may benefit from some prescription ear drops.  You should see a doctor to see if you are a candidate.
