Fluttering in left ear

I've had ear problems since April.  Initially, I started off feeling flu like, went to the doc and was told it was just a virus.  About a week later I got a water logged sensation in my head and ended up with an ear infection on my right side.  This took a long time to clear up.  It definitely hadn't cleared a week later when I had finished my antibiotics. I went back to the doctor a few days later but she said there was no infection.  For weeks I felt there was something not quite right, I think it felt like there was a film in front of that ear canal.  I also had the odd niggly pain every so often.  A few weeks ago I developed a pain in my tooth and discovered I had an abscess, which apparently has been present for a year or more.  This is on a lower left molar.  I started root canal treatment but halfway in to my second session, the endodontist told me that the tooth would have to go as there is a crack in it.  I am waiting to be seen by another dentist now.  I have now developed a fluttering sensation in my left ear.  I notice it more when I'm standing up, after sitting for a while.  I felt my initial ear infection was more than likely down to the abscess in my tooth but the dentist didn't seem to think so.  I'm hoping now that when my tooth is taken out, all of this will stop.  Can someone please enlighten me as to why I'm getting all this ear trouble.

Tooth pain can cause ear pain as well. At least it has from my own experience. Hopefully once the tooth is taken care of the ear will return to normal.
