Hearing crackles

So I'd noticed that about every time I get sick my ears do something weird. I can move whatbi think is my ear canal, I move a muscle which you can't see but can almost feel it if you press your thumb behind my ear. So it only happens when I swallow or do that movement and it sounds like crackles. Like when you put a really hot pan in cold water but without the gas release(evaporation). It's been happening for about 5 years now. Never had problems tho... But wanted to know of that is some condition.
