I fixed that. It may be complicated, but you have to research such issue as anti-inflammatory properties of macrolide antibiotics. I made spray with extremely low dose of josamycin. That one helped me and made condition pretty manageable.

Also, you may need to do bacterial culture test and cure them with antibiotics if you have something serious.

You can go at any medical store and ask chemist to give you glycerin and dextrose injection and them well and apply that solution to nose...

I had atrophic rhinitis at 15 years and  started seeing a doc soon. After some medicines and using nasal decongestants he prescribed small operation which he called  removing the dirt by punching. It is just a minor cleaning of the nose using local anasthesia.

After that it considerably decreased. But not gone. sometimes when the mucous thickens, i do feel some obstruction in the nasl paasge when i breathe. Then i inhale warm water with force and then the foul smelling mucous would be forced out of nose or  sucked ibnto mouth and spit.

But I am lucky i NEVER LOSED my sense of smell.

Can somebody tell me how to make glycerine+glucose?  Just ask for glycerine? Is it the same glucose that we drink? How do we apply it. inhale it just like saline water ?

Thanks

M suffering too. Age 25 , a teacher. Too worried.  Too much crusting. But no bad smell. I think it's Bcz of  applying glucose and glycerine in nose. Plz try it.
I've decided.
Have patience.  Do the needful like  applying saline water. ......  believe that we are not patient like heart patients or any other.  In stead of  watching tv ,dedicate 5 min for nose. Eat too much of vegetables.

I've heard of automatic cure in 40s  of life.
Plz share ur experience.

Has anyone tried HOMEOPATHY /AYURVEDA?

Plz share

Dear All suffering atrophic rhinitis,

Atrophic Rhinitis is easily Manageable.

Please apply 3 - 4 drops of Gingelly oil( Idhyam brand is the best and is available all over India and Asian stores in foreign countries) in each nostril, three times a day.

Also exercise saline douching everyday before brushing.

After brushing, mouthwash using gingelly oil ( also called as oil pulling)

Use a humidifier during sleeping, if possible in your office as well

regards,

nanan

Hi
I am 46 years old woman and having atrophic rhinitis since my teenage time. I have been to several antibiotic treatments but none of them could help. Now I am suffering from Anosmia (completely lost of smelling sense).  Life is dull without the sense of smelling. I will be the most grateful to the one who will help me with that, meaning that I recover and enjoy life again.
Best regards.

Hi,

Atrophic rhinitis is curable - you should reconsult with your ENT specialist.

Try out the medical optons available and if the symptoms still persist it would be ebst to discuss the surgical options with an ENT surgeon.

Treatment of Atrophic Rhinitis can be either medical or surgical.

Medical measures include:

Nasal irrigation using normal saline
Nasal irrigation and removal of crusts using alkaline nasal douches
25% glucose in glycerine can be applied to nasal mucosa, this inhibits growth of foul smelling proteolytic organisms
Local antibiotics like Kemicetine (Chloramphenicol) Ostradiol and Vit D2
Ostradiol spray
Systemic streptomycin
Oral potassium iodide
placental extract injected in the submucosa

Surgical Interventions include

Young's operation
Modified Young's operation
Narrowing of nasal cavities, submucosal injection of Teflon paste, section and medial displacement of lateral wall of nose
Transposition of parotid duct to maxillary sinus or nasal mucosa.
