Humming in Right ear when lie down at night

Please Help....

Iam 35 year old male who has had Hepatitis-C for about 10 years, I don't smoke or drink and apart from being a little overweight and suffering from Anxiety I'm generally physically sound - I have this 'humming' sound in my right ear and it only comes when its silent and Iam lying down in bed and it gets on my nerves and stops me from sleeping - sometimes I can sleep and when I wake it will be REALLY loud - I sometimes get ringing in same ear aswell, my G.P. can't help - he says its not 'Tinnitus' as its in one ear and only at nights in bed - he has referred me to ENT but the app. is 3 months away,,,,

I recently underwent 12 months Immunotherapy for Hep-C (Interferon/Ribavirin) - during this treatment the humming stopped (when I cleared the Virus) and after treatment I relapsed , the virus came back and so did the humming... so now im starting to believe it might be related to the Virus, however ive not had this humming for same duration ive had Hep-C - about 2 years ago I had my ears syringed and its been roughly since then (though cant be 100% sure) that this has been happening ... it drives me mad, I already have an illness and severe sleeping disorders I can't stand this humming when trying to sleep

can anyone help?

thanks

I am a 15 year old female and i have the exact same problem, i dont have any health issues apart from a cold at the moment. It is so irritating! I still hear it with the TV in the bakground though, when i make a noise or fidget, it stops for about 3 seconds then comes back again. Sorry im not very helpful but you're not alone!! :-)

Hi. No idea what it is but I would visit at least 2 specialists to get several opinions. In the meantime maybe you can try some kind of pills like Melatonin to help you sleep faster. Also might wanna try to listen to some relaxing background music/sound to block the humming out when sleeping... if its worse some nights and others not, try to see if there's anything you do differently on the good/better nights...

good luck

I have the same problem in my right ear and only when I'm laying down. I don't have the that virus,  but I do have anxiety disorder and high blood pressure. I still need to find out why.
