I want desperately to avoid surgery

I want desperately to avoid surgery

I do not want to go ahead with the surgery of the tonsils.  I am beyond the childhood age and feel it is too risky.  I suffer from chronic infection of the tonsils, sinuses and wind up with flu like symptoms every few weeks.  I do not have tonsil stones but I wind with abruptions from my tonsils and throat like an abscesses.  I now have huge craters in my tonsils which I'm sure will cause stones eventually.  What are the eruptions from?  I have tiny, white, totally under the service, bumps on my throat. Seems like there are thousands of them.  If I have my tonsils out will those things go away? Will I actually feel better?  I need some help before I go and schedule this surgery.  Thanks

I will tell you my live has been a lot better without them I have not have a ent infection in 10 years it was hard to do and a was sore for a few days but in the end its better this way   cell

Thank you for letting me this.  The Doctor was saying maybe I'd feel better.  I need to know that others have gone thru this and actually feel better.  Glad you're better.

You will feel much better and probably not have the other symptoms. The only suggestion I have is after the surgery do not drink pop for a few days as it will really smart. If your sinuses don't clear up you probably have a fungal infection.

I had the same problem about three years ago. I'm an adult (33 now) and was so afraid to have my tonsils out so late. But like you, I had the "holes" in my tonsils and the stones soon followed, and bleeding.
I'll be 100% honest, it was no fun to have them out. I was out of work for two weeks, and it's pretty painful the first 5 days or so, then it's just a little sore and there's a pretty bad taste in the mouth from the healing.
Even with the pain and aggravation at the time I'm still glad I did it because I can only imagine how bad they'd be now. If you do have them out, talk to the ENT about if you need to have your adenoids (adenoids) out too. They're very similar, and I just found out most people have them out at the same time. I didn't know about that, and now I have to go back in a month or so to have them out with a new ENT. I wish I knew that and just had them done at the same time. So they can easily look at your adenoids (adenoids) too to see if they should come out as well.
Good Luck!
-Jen.
