For quite a long time, at least 3 or 4 months, I've had a very itchy sensation in my right ear. It comes and goes but sometimes gets really annoying. I keep trying to scratch inside with my finger and will sometimes manage to get some whitish/yellowish wax out but I never use any foreign objects to clean my ears such as bobby pins or q-tips.
Sometimes the ear seems very dry and sometimes it's wet inside. There is no earache but occasionally if I lay on the side for a while the ear will hurt slightly. The pain stops very quickly when the position is changed.
A week ago I went to see a doctor to check my ears. She said everything was ok and helped me clean both of my ears with what looked like long teasers. She pulled out quite a bit of ear wax which, to my surprise, was dark brown in colour. The ear wax was in both right and left ear though the left one never caused any problems. She told me everything was fine and that I should avoid getting water into my ears (I rarely swim though).
Now, one week later, my ear is still very itchy. I don't think this is normal, especially because the other ear doesn't seem to bother me. Is there anything I should worry about? Has the doctor left some of the wax inside that is still causing my ear to feel itchy?
