Itching in ear ?

Hi there ,
For the last 6 months or so i have had itching in and around my left ear , it is also behind my ear as well (internal) , the doctor stated i had a fungal infection in my ear but this seems not to have done much , i have had a piercing in the ear for 10 years , it does not hurt , but it feels like my ear is always blocked , i have tried blowing but nothing seems to happen ie no popping sensation .

hi.As doctor suggested fungal infection is quite common cause for ear itching,in patients who are diabetic,immunocompromised or who swims this condition is quite common.what is needed is antifungal ear drops along with ear irrigation.It can be due to allergic manifestaions too for which combination of antifungal plus steriods ear drops are preferred.Blowing is for opening of blocked ear tubes(E. tube)NOT FOR EXTERNAL CANAL.It seems you are having wax along with fungal infection.Please consult an ENT specialist and get yoursef treated.
