Lymph nodes

What size are lymph nodes before they swell. I believe I can feel them in my jawline though they are only 1cm roughly large. I believe they aren't swollen through infection. Is 1cm there normal size?

Hi, usually lymph glands are not palpable. If the nodes are greater than 1cm in size then they are significant. Next you could see if any of the draining areas have any evidence of infection, like tonsils, the skin, tooth abscess or an ear infection. Infections like tuberculosis can cause lymphadenopathy.  It would be worthwhile to see if other lymph groups are enlarged namely, axilla and groin, these can be palpated, the others like those in the chest or abdomen may need a CT to detect their enlargement. Also correlate with blood counts, this could lead to further analysis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.

Hello. I have had recent blood tests for CBC,lft,u+e! glucose, esr, amylase and every is fine. I believe they are called submandibular nodes. They aren't easy too find it's not like just rubbing or feeling there too find them.
