MRI results and what my Doctor said.

Dear Sir or Ma'am,

My doctor called me today to give me the results for my MRI.  She stated that there was a shadow in my sinus cavity, and she wanted to do a CT Scan to rule out a tumor.  I had the MRI with contrast.  I thought that a MRI gave better results than a CT Scan.  Should I be really concerned that it is a Tumor?

MRI is meant for soft tissues like the brain. For sinuses, where we have to see wafer-thin bony walls and to evaluate bone-soft tissue interphase, CT is better. And if there is any bone destruction, CT will reveal it much better than MRI.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Thomas Antony
