Maxillary sinus specialist

Hi,  Thank you for your time.  I have just been diagnosed with TN in a 15 minute appointment with Neurologist.  I believe my symptoms are being caused by irritation on my maxillary nerve and trigemenial nerve due to a possible vacuum created in my maxillary sinus because my sinus hole is closed.   I am taking Carbamezepine which has helped some pain but I still have severe pain in right jaw and right nose and teeth and swelling in those areas also. I took 325mg of asprin every 5 hrs. and it takes care of all that pain.  I have been to ENT who leans toward closed hole theory and has scheduled balloon sinuplasty but the neurologist said I need to cancel.   If any professionals out there that can shine light on situation I would greatly appreciate.  Thanks  Eileen

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The one sided facial pain could be due to sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and sometimes a post nasal drip. As there is swelling of the right nose, teeth and jaw the pain could be due to a local cause like sinusitis. Further imaging studies like a CT scan may help to narrow down the cause for the pain. Treatment lies in treating the underlying cause.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
