For the past year i have notice my daughter snorts her nose like a pig & clears her throat a lot. I have taken her to doctors & none of them seem to know why she is doing it, one even told me she just wants your attention i kind of laughed at him & said well she gets everyones attention cause everyone stairs at her when she does it. She is very embarrassed of it cause some kids tease her at school cause of it.
When i ask her why she is doing it, she says cause she can't breath.
I had an xray done on her nose & they said her adenoids where a bit swollen but nothing major. Then they gave me a spray (avamys) for allergies but she is still snorting.
I feel so sorry for her, i want to fix it for her but i can't find a doctor that know what it could be.
Can anyone help!
My son snorts in and swallows the phlegm because he can't blow his nose. (Can't get teh knack of keeping his mouth shut and forcing the air outward. So he snorts it inward to clear his nose, and swallows in a choking way.) Does your daughter have any problem blowing her nose?
My son had the same problem years ago; it was his adenoids. He had them removed and all was better.
I hope she gets in soon to see this ENT Specialist; I think she needs her adenoids removed. I think they are significantly swollen in her case. If her breathing become difficult/life-threatening please seek emergent care.
Hey, i'm also suffering from this... Have you figured out what it might be? I've been doing the snorting for about 3 years now and it's ruining my teen life. I've been to nearly every doctor in the state and none know what it is. Any help would be appreciated if you know anything, anything at all...
