My left ear keeps getting clogged every now and then

Hello,

I am having a problem in my left ear. It keeps clogging from time to time and I start hearing echo in my voice when I speak and even I can hear my own breathing. The strange thing is that if I bend my head down, the ear goes back to normal, but if I raise my head up , it gets clogged again. I went to an ENT Doctor and made a test for my ear and there was no problem in my ear then he saw my nose and told me that I need to make a surgery for my nose cartilage to solve the ear clogging problem. I don't know if I understood him right, but he said that the left nostril is closing which causes pressure on my left ear and causing it to get clogged.

I am asking here to see if there may be other causes for this problem, and to see if anyone has faced this before?

Thanks.

If you saw the detailed anatomy of all the tiny canals of the ears and nose and eyes, you would be very impressed that we don't have more problems.  It sounds like you have a deviated septum, which is more a bony problem than cartilage problem.  Deviated septum can cause ear problems.  You could try putting a solution of witch hazel and tea tree oil into the ear with an eye dropper for relief.  It will clean out the ear.
