Neck Alignment and nasal conjestion

by fluterific00, Oct 31, 2009 01:08AM
Hello
I am new to the board and find this site interesting.  I have an a question that I don't know what category it should really be in.  Lately, I've realized that I've always been congested in my throat making it uncomfortable to talk at times.  I have a hard time pushing my words past my glands during these events.  Just recently, I have been stretching my neck and popping it back into place which has begun to help the tensions I'm feeling in my neck.  After it pops, it feels like the mucus (or whatever the congestion is) clears in the spot where it was popped back into place.  If I can't get the spot to pop, it feels like the congestion just hangs from in between the openings of my mouth and my nose and just won't come out by blowing or spitting.
Is there any connection between my neck tension and my feeling of congestion?  Would seeing a chiropractor for my neck help me at all or would I just be aligning that part without doing anything for the congestion?
Thanks

There is no plausible connection there.  What you are describing sounds like some thick mucus.  This could be from dehydration, salivary gland problems, medicine (over the counter or prescription) side effects, reflux... There is no evidence that chiropractic manipulation of your neck works any better than a placebo and there is evidence that this could harm you.

The 'congestion' first needs to be diagnosed before treatment can be responsibly recommended.  You might consider seeing a primary care physician or an ENT specialist.
