Neck Discomfort & Muscle Spasms

Have had the feeling that there is a lump moving in my neck when I swallow (around my voicebox) and a tightness when I point my chin up.  The doctors have felt around the neck area and found nothing.  In the past month, I had a pain when I swallowed which shot down into my chest.  This lasted about 6 days and went away.  Had a barium swallow done - nothing.  The back of my head near the base of the skull hurts as well as occasional pain in my ears.  At night I have an annoying dry cough.  There are times when it all just kind of throbs at the same time.  The last two days it feels tighter and I am having muscle spasms on the left side of my neck.  My doctor wants me to see a gastrontologist because of the pain previously (which I told him was gone).  The physician which did the barium swallow asked if I had seen an ear nose and throat doctor.  Anyone have an idea on what it is or which doctor to see?  Thanks so much.

Hello,

About your pains, you should visit all this specialists close to neck, ear and nose, as also some Neurologist. I would make x-ray of the neck, and also from the shoulder. Some of them will tell you, where to go on, if is not their case. Hope, you find some help.

Hi i was having very bad pain on the left side of my neck stiifness and couldn't move my neck back and forth. I went to the ER and they did exrays , nothing they did a ct-scan and found something. My neck was so swollen that i couldn't breath. They open my left side of my neck and found pus inside. They drained it out and went back to see if i had anything left. They said it was cleaned and I got out og the hospital. I was hospitalized for ten days. So don't wait any longer and get your throat checked!

hi, 3 weeks back i had a neck muscle spasm, 1week later i had feeling that some thing, like small pill or cough is stuck in my lower throat ,some times i dont feel it,but again it comes back,some times i even have occational ear pain,dnt have lump or any problem in eating,i just want to know is it bcoz of muscle spasm or i do have chances of geting cancer,have visited my family doctor bt he says its just bcoz i have sinus ,pls help me out
