Nodule on my vocal chord

My voice has been a little raspy, breaking and I haven't been able to sing for the past six months.  Two months ago I went to see an ENT specialist and he said I had two nodules on my vocal chords.  My everyday speaking has gotten better over the past six months but I'm wondering if my voice will ever fully return to normal.  It seems that it is restricted whenever I try to push it up an octave even when I'm talking excitedly. My Dr. told me that it didn't seem like there was any cause for concern and told me to reschedule an appt if I needed it.  He told me nodules could take a very long time to heal.  I don't feel like my voice was being abused in any way although I recently moved from the midwest to Cali.  My question is will my voice ever return to normal, how long can this take and what can I do to help it.  Thank you.
