Nose biopsy

i got nose biopsy four weeks ago, because the doctor had spotted nose glands are swollen. Before biopsy i hadn't had any nose pains but after that i've been having a lot of pain. The doctor found that i have adenoids that are big. I am a forty year old.  What is the reason for my nose pain?

Hi.

It is very sad, to know that your appointment with ENT is after six months, that is too long a period.

There must be infection at the site of biopsy. I would suggest you to take antibiotics (like augmentin), analgesics (like Ibuprofen/ Diclofenac) and saline nasal drops to keep the area moist. Also avoid smoking.

The biopsy was done in my nose four weeks ago. When i have the pain, at the same time i feel some itching. The diagnosis of the nose is called Adenoids. I would be really greatful if you gave me some advise if i need medication.I'm going to see ENT in six month's and that is a long time to wait with this pain.

Hi,

Can you please mention from where was the biopsy done? And what was the histo-pathological diagnosis (out of curiosity)? Without understanding from which part the biopsy is done it is indeed difficult to say what would be the cause. In few instances the pain might be because of the infection at the biopsy site.

The biopsy site may be inflamed or even infected.  It's hard to say.  Most likely this is just some scar tissue, this can cause some transient pain.  Alternatively, it could be completely unrelated. The only way to know for sure would be to revisit the doctor who did the biopsy.
