Nosebleed, phlegm
I had a severe nosebleed about a week ago which led to several visits to the emergency room before they finally cauterized it. This has stopped the nosebleeds however I'm seeing some blood in my sputum now and again, quite dark and thick but not a great amount. Seems to be draining from above into my throat area. I have an appointment with a specialist in about a week but need to know if this symptom is common after cauterization and should I return to the emergency room. Could it be some residual blood draining from my sinuses? The original nosebleeds were quite severe and blood went up my sinuses.

I have been a heavy aspirin user for sometime also, but stopped using it several days ago on the doctor's advice.
