Pain 3 wks after tooth extraction

Hi, I need a little assitance.  I had a back bottom molar extracted 3 weeks ago and I am still suffering with ear, throat and sinus issues, not to mention pain at the extraction site as well.  I had a tooth pulled that had a post in it, the root canal work was done in the 80's and not done very well thus I had decay underneath the dental work and had to have it pulled.  I went to a regular dentist, not a surgeon to have the tooth extracted.  I've had serveral things happen since the extraction, to begin with I had bone spurs that had to be filed down, apparently I was treated for dry socket and since I've had this tooth extracted I've experienced sinus, throat and ear pain.  While the extraction site itself has healed I remained with a hole in my gum where I apparently still have one more bone spur, per the oral surgeon that I since then have sought the opinion from.   The surgeon said that the original dentist should have removed this during the extraction.  I would like to know how long it would take for the gum to cover the bone and heal on its own as I do not want to go in for another filing becasue at this point I am deathly affraid of having more work done.  The other question I want to know if the ear, throat and sinus pain could be related to the extraction.  Also, I had a really bad stye in the eye on the same side of the extraction, I've never had one before and was wondering if this somehow could be related.  Should I go to my doctor to be treated or back to the dentist?  Any help is so appreciated!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

It definitely sounds like infection. It should heal over normally in 2-3 weeks depending on how healthy you are. But what if you got an infection in the bone? Did they put you on antibiotics after the extraction as a precautionary measure - I would've wanted them if I had decay and then had them filling at my bone. The mouth harbors all sorts of bacteria that could enter open wounds.

A dry socket is incredibly painful as well, these are usually caused be the person sucking out/dislodging the clot that covers the extraction site. Never ever remove the blood clot or fiddle with an extraction site, don't even use salted water to swish the clot out!

Also, remember now that antibiotics aren't working like they use to. Some/most bacteria has built up immunity to these medications, so if you're prescribed them and finish the course but you are still sick you must keep getting repeats until you are healthy again. Otherwise the stronger bacteria that weren't killed off will cause a worse infection.
