Pain In Ear nose and neck

I get this pain that is peirceing pain from what feels like the center of my ear. Then the pain begins to travel side of my nose and mouth. There are times the pain goes further down to my neck and chest. The pain at times can leave me near paralized. My genral Dr. belives it is nerve damge I question this because yhe lack of any real test. I had been rush to the hospital with them thinking it was my heart that check out and it is ok. But where and why dose this pain come?

It could very well be an issue of nerves. Google image [something like] head/neck/face nerves diagram.

Pain can come from a different source, of course. Ear: from the ear itself, bad tonsil and have heard that the a dysfunctional thyroid can cause it as well. As for pain near the bridge of the nose: sinus issues (infection/allergy/nasal spur/deviation)etc.

From the sounds of it, your doctor made an educated guess but it'll remain a guess until you receive a definitive diagnosis by a Neurologist.

Best.

It could be your sinuses.  I have a sinus infection which started in my maxillary, i.e my right cheek and now extends to my right ear and behind my right eye.  It feels like my nerves are infected.  It seems as though the physicians don't take it seriously if they can't see an infection, but it is potentially dangerous.  I wish we could all get together and form a support group.  Until I found this website, I thought I was the only one who is suffering like this.  Anyone who has a serious sinus infection, and/or postsurgical sinus complications and infection please feel free to email me ANYTIME, at ***@****

Have you seen a dentist for TMJ in the past or lately? Look up the symptoms for that. It is also known as TMS. Do you grind your teeth at all? Have you been stressed out lately? Do you have any sore teeth or old fillings? Just something to look into. Good Luck

I have had chronic sinusitis for past year, was sent to ENT, had CT-it showed deviated septum, and so on. After 6-7 anti-biotics throughout the year, with no relief I finally got septoplasy (nasal) surgery.  This was too help eliviate pressure in and behind my eyes. I did not recover well, it has been 8 weeks, have been on steroids twice, anti-biotics twice.  I feel I had infection when surgery took place. I still have blurry vision and pressure and seeing black spots. Had eye exams, MRI's, CT's, X-rays, ENT had allergy testing done, I have extreme allergies.  I got very depressed during all of this, not being able to drive is the hardest.  I am now going to Neurologist, to have check there. ENT stated I still have the "dissolving" stich or stiches still in nose, and so I thought that was a bit odd.  I still have sore nose, clots of mucus that take me forever to get out...  Need someone who can relate?  (Also, MRI- postsurgery showed infection in Left ethmoid and sphenoid, so ENT mentioned possible surgery on the left side?  I do not want that...

Hi,
you are welcome to email me at ***@****
I can completely relate and now I have something else to share here.
I continued to get so sick.  And I also feel that this the worst of my illness happened after 2nd surgery, as I got a high fever 3 days after surgery, and have had pain in right maxillary and right ear throbbing since.  Excruciating pain where Iwas hospitalized, they couldnt find anything except total opacification of left frontal sinus, but nothing where I have the pain.  My neurologist felt strongly that it was still infection that was not only making me feel so deathly ill, but also that infection was beyond my sinuses and had reached the nerves that innervate my cheeks and ear.  Also severe pain behind my right eye nerve, and feeling like all teeth are simultaneously abcessed.  So,  despite the fact that I was on IV Rocephin I continued to get much sicker, to point of feeling so "deathly ill" I couldn't believe I was still alive.  Tried to get the ENT to culture this strange, thick, smelly, but clear drainage-post nasal drip, and asthma, he said no- it was probably allergies, and despite me asking him to please culture my sinus anyway he refulsed.  I was ready to give up.  Then last week I went to another ENT, who was compassionate, and believed that I was as sick as I was , and he took a culture from my sinuses , despite the fact that he said my sinuses were not inflammed.  Culture came back MRSA, the ID doctor switched my IV antibiotic to Vancomycin yesterday, and today I feel strong, well, and in no pain whatsoever. For the first time since my second surgery in October. I am extremely anxious, because I can't believe that I could have gotten so ill, but yet no one would help until now.  I can't believe how good I feel and I just pray that they keep me on it long enough to finally killl this disgusting, devastating bacteria that almost made me give up. I don't understand why the ENT's don't culture, unless they see inflammation or yellow pus.  I had thick but clear drainage, I think it didnt become yellow because, after 2 sinus surgeries in 6 months, the sinuses are open-p-thereby allowing the bacteria to drain but STILL causes diease in the form of malaise and weakness and pain if the bacteria remains untreated, but still has contact with the walls of the sinuses.  except for my frontal which is now completely closed and shows total opacification).
This is my question for the ENT profession:.  The purpose of sinus surgery is to allow bacteria to drain out of sinuses and therefore not get stuck in inflammed sinus tissue.  If someone who has had surgery and their sinuses are open, the bacteria is draining, but if its untreated, then in will perpetually drain from sinuses and so the sinus tissue will continue to have contact with the toxins in the bacteria and cause disease.  Just because the tissue doesnt appear damaged doesnt mean that there is not disease. The actual drainage inside the sinus are also a source of disease, so why, if your patient is complaining of feeling so ill, and notices a drainage that is not normal for their body, why do you refuse to culture it? A bacterial infection can  apparently be clear and doesnt have to be yellow in color.  The MayoClinic published a breakthrough article a few months ago which supports the idea that the drainage/mucous inside sinuses can contain toxins from bacteria and also bacteria and is also a source of disease if it contains the bacteria or toxins that produce disease, whether or not the sinus tissue is inflammed, and needs to be treated as diseased sinus.
