Pain and aching (even burning) at very back of throat and into neck

I have been battling weird symptoms for a long time now, and the sensation in the very back of my throat (oropharynx I believe) is still there if I place pressure on it. Basically it feels like bone underneath, but there is a slightly raised area (smooth and no different color) there - difficult to see but I can feel it with my finger.

Is this normal or is the back of the throat supposed to be nice and flat?

My palatine tonsils also hurt or sting when I apply pressure to them, especially near the top. I don't think this is normal. The aching in my throat can also be felt into my neck and to the very back of my neck at the base of my skull. It worsens with talking or just working for a period of time.
