Perforated Esophagus

by Steve343710, Nov 03, 2009 03:06PM
What is the prognosis for a person who has an inoperable perforated esophagus?  The perforation is caused by a tumor and the spinal column is exposed and visible from the esophagus.  How long is this person likely to survive with feeding by stomach tube?

Thanks

Esophageal diseases are generally handled by Gastroenterologists and/or General Surgeons.  This is clearly a very serious development.  The risk of infection is likely high.  Sorry that I can't give any better advice/information.

Should I post this question to a different forum?  I am trying to get an idea of how high the risk of infection is and what the prognosis is for continued survival.  Thanks
