Possible Vocal Nodules?

Possible Vocal Nodules?

I consulted my high school choir director recently when I noticed that my vocal range didn't seem to be as wide as it was only a year ago. We both agreed that maybe it was a breathing or support issue, but when I sang for him he noticed that my voice had become a lot breathier and "grainier" or "scratchier" than it used to be. Along with this change in my voice, I started noticing last spring that after long periods of singing my ears would hurt. Again, I thought it was only that I was doing too much singing at one time but the pain has progressively become more frequent and starts sooner into each rehearsal or practice. My director was concerned that I may have developed vocal nodules and I was wondering if, to anyone with experience, this sounded like a case of vocal injury. Thank you in advance for your help.
