Anyway, towards the end of March I developed several tongueTongue tie problems.
Firstly it had been whitish for a couple of weeks but this was followed by strong tingling, almost burning sensations. A sensation of a hair being stuck at the back of the throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture.
Then reddish shapes with white borders appeared on the upper surface and edge of the tongueTongue tie.
Finally, I seemed to get some swollenSwollen glands lymph nodes on one side of the neck only, and a "stuck food" sensation in my throat.
I visited the docs about this time and he said it didn't look like thrush but prescribed Nyastin anyway. Much of the pain/discomfort on the tongue had started to ease by the time I saw the doc.
The Nyastin didn't seem to affect the condition at all - when I completed the course it was still there, but the shapes did disappear eventually.
However, my tongue remained whitish (although didn't seem thrush like - just individial white papillae) except for the tip and round the edge which felt slightly sore like I'd just burnt it on a hot drink.
Anyway, nearly a month later and the shapes on the tongue returned, with tingling/discomfort.
There is a large circular one - 12cm diameter - near the middle of my tongue, about 3 on the tip and two on the right side. I also got slightly swollen lymph nodes on that side.
The shapes often have a white rim, certainly when they appear but this can disappear after they have been around a few days.
I searched the net and found that erythematous candidiasis is similar in appearance, causes burning sensation and is associated with HIV, so I am freaking.
And last night I noticed a white plaque near the back of my tongue at the side which scraped off.
So now I am panicking that it is candidiasis and a symptom of HIV, although it seems early in the disease it is apparently possible to appear at any time.
This morning the pain has lessened and I'm thinking maybe it's going away again but who knows?
So, does it sound like GT or thrush, or something else?
I have to say that I am extremely stressed at the moment due to the HIV scare and I read that stress affects GT strongly, although I don't know whether it would affect thrush.
