Preauricular sinus recurrence?

Preauricular sinus recurrence?

4072020?1236608458
I recently had my pre-auricular sinus excised (after a LOT of hassle due to it being not very well known and mistaken for many other things) but I recently noticed that there were now two distinct white spots on the scar line which feel slightly oily to the touch (although there is no swelling or fluctuance around the area which may be indicative of a collection). I am scared this could be a recurrence due to incomplete excision. Could someone please take a look, I am getting rather worried!

Hello,

My 3 year old is going to have her preauricular sinuses on each side removed on Monday. Even though I have no idea if your problem is due to recurrence, it looks like the same fluid that leaks out of my daughter's ear sinus. Does it have any noticable smell to it? My daughter's leakage on the right side has a bad smell to it, while the other side leaks a white pasty pus-like substance that has no smell.

Sorry I couldn't help more, but good luck, and I hope someone can help you figure this out!

Hii,
It seems like pus to me- not necessarily that the surgery was incomplete but perhaps some of the pus that was already present is leaking out (I'm assuming it was infected before which led you to see your doctor in the first place)- I’d suggest to have it checked with your doctor just in case it might be something else. As long as its not painful I don’t think theres anything to worry.

My baby sister is going to have her preauricular sinus removed soon, after suffering for a year from recurrent purulent swellings and I was getting a tad anxious about her. Those of you that have had it done, could you tell me the procedure, like the preclinical assessment that takes place days prior to the surgery and how long it took you in the hospital etc.

Thanks!

i have a preauriculur sinus on the left ear.
util it got infected in 2008 i had no idea that it was a defect..
i have gotten swelling over it again this time...
but there is no discharge yet..also it pains a bit
i have been meaning to go to a doctor...but have been busy with exams and m also in a hostel...it might take me two more days before i could visit a doctor..wanted to ask whether there are any risks involved and a does it require almost immediate treatment or antibiotics.

i have mine removed last 2002 and the surgeon didn't fully remove the bottom sac. I knew this because he told me that after the operation, because he said that it's kinda deeper and he just used a local anesthesia during the surgery. Unfortunately, last 2007 it came back again, but in the form of a boil. I had it opened to remove all the pus. after that, it just keep on recurring almost every 1 and half year. Now, it looks swollen/bumpy again, itchy sometimes but not reddish/infected. But actually, i like the feeling after having a boil in it, atleast all the pus was removed, feeling relief and light..Unlike now, i am kinda paranoid, that maybe i might end up with meningitis because of this recurrent infection. I have been in the EENT for this several times, but they just told me to avoid eating allergenic food (i.e chicken). But how can i avoid those, as i was here in middle east, all chicken. lol. I was glad reading all these comments, to find out i am not alone with this.
