Salivary Stone in the Glands possible Side effect of the H1N1 Vaccine??

I just recently had the H1N1 vaccine and the following day my right jaw was swollen. Obvisiously this was a big concern for me considering I just had the H1N1 vaccine the night before. I went to my doctor and he told me its a possibility that I have a stone in salivary gland and recommended that I suck on a lemon and he perscribed me some penicillin and if it gets worse I should see him.

Now its day 2 of this possible salivary gland stone and now its occuring on my left and right cheek especially if I eat something acidic. Is there a possibility this will pass through on it own? Lastly does having the H1N1 vaccine cause swollen glands as a possible side effect?

First off, no correlation with the vaccine; complete coincidence.

Stones can and often do pass on their own.  I agree with the advice you have been given.  Push the fluids; avoid caffeine and alcohol (things that tend to dehydrate you); try warm compresses.

Well maybe a stone, but as you've said, you just had the vaccine. I do wonder if that may have caused this problem.

I've had the salivary gland stones for awhile-Every dr who has examined them does not seem concerned.(I wish they did but I guess that's good) I do want to let you know that I just had H1N1 before I could get a vaccination and you DO not want to get that stuff. I haven't been that sick in YEARS. Plus it takes a long time to get your strength back.
It also seems too quick for the stones to have formed from your vaccine? Maybe you were dehydrated beforehand, did you have the mist or injection? If it was the mist you may have developed a reaction due to a compromised immune system. I have immunity issues (and am over 50) so I was told to take the injection only. I hope this helps.

Look, there are various possible (uncommon) side effects from vaccines.  A salivary gland stone is not among them.
