Septoplasty and turbinate reduction

I am having surgery soon for deviated septum correction and turbinate reduction.  How many days can I expect to need for recovery (just looking for an average or other people's experience; I know everyone is different).  I'm trying to plan my schedule around this surgery but I don't really have an idea of how many days I'll need to take off from work, etc.  I'm hoping I won't be totally "out of it" after the first day.

Also, I hate taking prescription pain medications because they generally make me nauseous - was anyone able to skip taking them or just use over the counter stuff instead?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!!
