Severe throat pain with white spots

Hi.
Two days ago my throat suddenly began to hurt a lot.
I took a photo of it ( attached as a file ).
I am 26 years old, male.
I can barely eat or even swallow water. The pain is too much.
What bothers me the most are the white spots scattered around the throat, as can be seen from the photo.
I think the family doctor didn't notice those white spots cause they might not be visible when I say AAHHH ... but clearly visible when I inhale air.
I have no fever.
The family doctor has purscripted me antibiotics. I've taken it for one day but the throat's condition only got worse.
What are the white spots ?
Is the antibiotics treatment is sutible for the problem ?
Thanks alot!!

Thanks a lot for the answer. I have those TWELVE canker sores on my tonsils for 6 days now, and they just don't go away. I also developed a red rash at the groin since they appeared.
I didn't say a word for 6 days cause it hurts so much :-( I can't even whisper!!
The doctors here say it will pass, but there seem to be almost no improvement at all! What caused it ?
I interact with people using only pen and paper for 6 days!! It's impossible!
What de hell is wrong with me ?!?!

I thought for sure I'd be looking at tonsil stones when I saw the small image, but up close it looks like ulcers. It doesn't even look like strep, which, hopefully, your doctor would have known to look for...maybe that's what he thought it was?? Apthous ulcers, or canker sores, can occur anywhere in the mouth but do not involve the outside of the lip. Fever is rare with these and antibiotics and time are things that are used to heal them. I'm so sorry you're in pain!
