Snoring during Sleep

by murphy58, Feb 06, 2007 12:00AM
I am aged 58 yrs, and fat (weigh about 75kgs)at 155cms Height. For the past couple of years, my family started complaining that I am snoring loud. They say it is disturbing them. During travel night time, co-passengers mentioned about their feeling inconvenience due to this. Please mention why it is due to and suggest how it can be avoided.

A read: http://www.helpguide.org/life/snoring.htm

In the last few years, I had been snoring more too. I had my tonsils removed in April of 06 and haven't snored since. That said, my tonsils were quite large.

a tonsilectomy sounds like a good solution, but your age is a problem.  as we get older, surgeons shy away from tonsilectomies due to more vasculature surrounding the nodes. it just becomes more dangerous. i would sugest is that you have a sleep apnea test, possible cpap machine. it looks clunky and bulky but what ive heard of patient standpoint is that they feel 150 percent after sleeping with it, and guess what? snoring gone. take care
