Sore Throat

Hello,
I'm a 20 year old boy from India. I'm experiencing a scratchy sensation in my throat for last two weeks. There is no severe pain but just a scratchy sensation. It usually appear during the afternoon or in the evening and will be there till the night. It appears in the alternate days, one day after the other. I had a sore throat for the first time in the recent times on 13th of last month and it was there for 4-5 days and it cured without any treatment. Now it again started appearing from 26th of last month. It is not continuous appears usually during the afternoon hours. But today i had it right from 11 in the morning. I've not consulted a doctor yet. Is there any thing serious in my concern?

Thank you mam for your replay.. Anyway i'll consult an ENT this week.
But in the case of tonsillitis, the sore throat is continuous no? Here i'm having it only during some hours of day. Is it still might be because of tonsillitis?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
You seem to be suffering from tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Your symptoms can also occur due to a chronic throat infection, which could be due to a post nasal drip. Try warm saline garles. That may provide some relief. You should seek consultation with an ENT specialist .That will help diagnose the cause. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Keep me posted.
Take care and regards.
