Sore throat - pharyngitis- 4 weeks, please help!

Hey,
I'm a 22 year old male who has had pharyngitis for the past 4 weeks. My doctor has put me on augmentin and klacid , both for one week and now i'm on sodium chloride. My throat is only sore on the left side and it is not severe but very annoying after 4 weeks. I have been to the doctor 4 times, 2 different doctors and it is still the same.

Is it possible to have an infection for this long? And if so, how long could it go on for?

I am starting to really worry about this as I think it could be something serious.

my child now is 8 years of age and being Sore throat for nearly 2 weeks, the fever is 38. After treat by augmentin and klacid, no much help. any other suggestion? my child is allergic with Zinnat (cefuroxime).. Please help...
