For the past couple years, I have had a ongoing itching/tingling sensation on/in my left ear. This is the only symptom. The itch started on my left tragus and eventually spread to my lower frontal helix. In the last few months, it has spread to my left ear canal as well.
I went to a local clinic, where a NP prescibed antibiotics. Since there is no pain, redness, discharge, or tympanum abnormalities, it seems unecessary to put a substance in my ear that could damage my hair cells.
Any ideas? I use disposable ear plugs on a regular basis, if that helps at all.
