Strep or mono?

Hello im new to this, so forgive me if im posting in the wrong forum. I was hoping a health professional could help. About 2 yrs ago for the first time i had bacterial strep. Pus was all over my tonsils. I gave a girl oral after that i went gym maybe a few days later. Maybe a week after my throat started feeling funny never sore tonsils just felt swollen when i swallowed, paid it no mind then a two days later a sudden sore throat terrible pain. Went to the ER was diagnosed with strep and was prescribed amoxicillin. I noticed the white spots when i felt my tonsils swelling but it wasnt bad and i was thinking maybe its a bad sore throat but when the pain came the white spots spread. But as i was on amoxi i broke out in a rash towards the end of the prescription. The dr. Didnt swab my my throat just looked and said strep. So my question is was it mono or strep because the amoxi did take the swelling down and remove the white spots and i know antibiotics don't cure viruses. Also my tonsil are still a little big and i get tonsil stones that i have to clear out now

You described my same exact problem to a T. Wish i would've been seen this. But i had the same problems and same thing with the dr no swab just a look and diagnosed with strep.
