Swelling above the collar bone

Hi, for the last couple of months I have swelling above my collarbone, mainly on the left side. It comes and goes, but not completely away. There is no lump it is more like a thickness. It can get to be as much as 1 1/2 inches above my collar bone.  On the right side when there is no swelling there it is indented a little, as it should be. I do feel like there is something in my throat on the left side that makes me try to swallow to get it down. It does not seem to be coming back up, as if it was acid from the stomach or where ever, it just seems to be lodged in my throat. I went to see an ENT Dr. and he said that the swelling was probably just a fat pad and the throat was probably acid reflex. But he wants me to have a catscan. I am wondering what else it could be. He does not believe it to have anything to do with lymph nodes. This was the first time I have seen this Dr. and unfortunately he seemed very preoccupied. Any thoughts would be great to hear/read.
