Swimmer's Ear

Hi.  My boyfriend had had swimmer's ear in one of his ears before.  Now he is complaining of having the same feelings in both ears at the same time.  He's already got a doctor's appointment scheduled, and over the counter medicine isn't helping much.  Is there anything he can do for the pain until he gets to his doctor?

i have had swimmers ear for 2 weeks. got the medicine form the er to help it. Most the the pain is gone, swelling went down. I still can barely hear out of one ear. When should this go away?
