I have one swollen gland on the left side of my neck beneath my chin. In December '12 I had sore throat, coughing, and infected ears and swollen gland. Went to the Doctor, and she gave me an anti-biotic. Didn't help. I went back January 8th and she gave me another anti-biotic because I still have infected ears. Did blood work. Came back ok except for my Potassium was slightly low. As of today, Jan. 11, I still have swollen gland. How long does it take for them to leave? My nerves are getting the best of me. I am 70.
After the primary source of infection resolves, it may take upto 4-6 weeks for the glands to fully resolve. If there is persistent low grade infection, the glands may continue to be enlarged. So, please don't worry.
