Swollen Submandibular 1 Month

Hi. My left submandibular gland (salivary I'm assuming) has been swollen for a little over a month.

There is occasionally slight pain, but I haven't been able to correlate it directly to eating. I don't have any dry mouth symptoms. I tried massaging it once and had pain for a while afterwards. It is moveable and seems to be as large as the tip of my thumb, but is only palpable, not visible.

I checked for swelling of lymph nodes, and thought that one or two behind my left nipple felt a bit larger than the ones on the right, but this may just be paranoia.

My question: Is this cause for concern right away, or can I wait 2-3 weeks until I am back from my internship to visit my GP?

Other details: Healthy 23 y/o male; visited GP for gastro-intestinal problems earlier this summer.

You're welcome.

Of course if your situation becomes worse and you think you need urgent care, please go.

Many Thanks,

I tried the "sucking on lemons" remedy yesterday evening. The salivary gland feels less swollen. However, I'm more sure about the lymph nodes around the nipple being painlessly swollen. I'll them both some time.

Thanks again.

Based on the information in your post, I think it will be ok if you wait 2-3 weeks to see your GP
